Socks Galore

At Union Gospel Mission (UGM) in the Cities, there is always a need for NEW socks!! At LCC Missions we're all for keeping toes warm during this VERY cold Minnesota Winter. So, starting today and going through Friday, March 5th, we are hosting a Sock Drive at Linwood Covenant Church!

Over two weeks, we will be collecting NEW socks of all sizes for men, women, and children. The warmer the socks you can purchase, the better - especially for men.

And no, they cannot make use of those matchless socks you have in your laundry room. :-) Donated socks must be NEW. Please purchase your packages of socks - or individual pairs - online, or in store and drop them off at church whenever convenient! there is a marked laundry basket right inside the entryway.

Let's see how many pairs of feet we can keep warm this Winter!

John & Nancy Peterson are based in Comstock, WI serving college wrestlers through Athletes in Action, which is a branch of Campus Crusades for Christ (CRU).

Nancy recently reported how the year has gone with COVID:

Ministry has been going pretty well, in spite of the need for masks, social distancing and sometime Zoom calls. When everything shut down last March, John was forced to be very flexible and do all Zoom calls with the wrestlers. It took some getting used to, but everyone adjusted and all were flexible. He was able to add some Zoom calls with wrestlers and coaches from other countries, which has been a great blessing and something that might not have happened at all, if it weren't for COVID.

One awesome opportunity came about as a result of a Zoom call with a wrestler who had invited other wrestlers. John got reacquainted with a former Gopher wrestler who now lives in New Jersey. The two of them started a weekly Zoom call and have enjoyed the fellowship and growth happening in this man's life.

John as resumed going on campus, but with COVID restrictions. We are grateful that we serve a God who knows everything and who uses even the most unusual of circumstances for His Glory!

Pray for the wrestlers, for growth in their walks with Jesus, for open hearts for those who want to know more about a relationship with Him, and for their health . Also pray that John stays healthy.

He enjoys meeting face-to-face (mask-covered, of course) whenever possible.

Thank you LCC for your continued prayer and financial support! Lives are being changed by the Lord, and you are part of that!!!

A Well is planned for Summer 2021!

If you recall, LCC spent 2019 raising funds to help dig a well in Bureng, Gambia. Our goal in doing so was to ease the burden of many of the village women and children tasked with carrying water each day. Our Water for the World campaign was extremely successful. Isatou Barry, our connection to Bureng, had a trip planned to map out the well in March of 2020. And the COVID hit.

Recently, Missions Chair, Barb Granquist, has received word that Isatou is hoping to get that trip back on the calendar for this Summer! Her status as a frontline worker has allowed her to get the COVID vaccine and Gambia's requirements for travel into the country are merely a negative test.

So as long as things continue on this positive path, she (and we) are optimistic that there will be a well being dug in Gambia - thanks to your generosity - come Summer 2021!
